Stable Owner
As a racetrack owner you are capable of hiring trainers, it's not really necessary for you to buy supplies from any of the stores. However, it is a good idea to buy a few horse supplies in case your trainer's can't get on for a while.
A thing to watch out for as a stable owner is the feed for your horse. As your trainer takes care of your horse, the game doesn't show how much feed your horse has left. You must keep up your stock of feed, because most of the time a trainer doesn't buy it unless asked to. There are different kinds of feed. Grain gives you 28 serving and is the most expensive while hay is the least expensive that gives you 100 servings. You are better off getting hay, becuase regardless what type of feed whether mixed, pellets, or hay the servings will combined anyways and won't matter.
ANS
Trainer
As a trainer, it is very important to have a good amount of stock of horse supplies. When you feed, water, groom and muck horses' stables, there are only four units to clean up or add. The largest supplies take care of three units; the medium supplies take care of two units; and the small supplies take care of one unit.
The medium size is the best to get, economically. Getting the biggest and the best supplies might be tempting, but it doesn't do anything except cost more. Both the medium and the large supplies will need to be used twice for the horses to be happy, anyway. There's only a $15 or so difference between the medium and the large, but it adds up fast.
Jockey
As a jockey, you can visit the food store, but there's currently no use for them. Until that section of the game's been completed, there's no real need for anything.
